Equinox Equanimity: At One with the Universal Flow, with Rolf Gates. (Monthly classes with Rolf are coming to the Vets Hall beginning this fall!)
"What we carry in our hearts is who we are; and who we are is our gift to the world." - Rolf Gates
Rolf Gates, author of the acclaimed book on yogic philosophy "Meditations from the Mat: Daily Reflections on the Path of Yoga" (Random House) conducts vinyasa intensives and teacher trainings throughout the US and abroad. His workshops are a synergy of the freedom of a powerful vinyasa flow and the structural integrity of therapeutic alignment principles. Rolf and his work have been featured in numerous magazines, including Yoga Journal, Natural Health and People Magazine. A frequent conference presenter and recently named in Travel and Leisure’s Top 25 Yoga Studios Around the World, he will also be the keynote speaker at the 2009 Midwest Yoga Conference. Rolf is a former social worker and US Airborne Ranger who has practiced meditation for the last sixteen years. He brings his eclectic background to his practice and his teachings.
This asana-based session will include a powerful combination of asana, pranayama (breathwork) and meditation. The practice is intentionally challenging, but open to all levels. The only 'requirement' is that you show up, do your best and let your best be good enough.
Rolf says, "I see my class as a way to exercise the muscles that really count; the muscles of the heart, the muscles of the spirit."
All proceeds from this event benefit the Santa Cruz County Veterans Memorial Building and One Yoga programs. Download a flyer with a list of our equinox week events. | |

LivingCompassion.org presents an interactive one-day workshop with Zen teacher Cheri Huber. Using group discussion, journaling and guided imagery, Cheri will assist participants to see that "there is nothing wrong with you," which just might change forever the most important relationship in your life: the one you have with yourself. Cheri Huber, a student and teacher of Zen for more than 30 years, has written 19 books, including There Is Nothing Wrong With You. She founded the Zen Monastery Peace Center and Living Compassion, a nonprofit dedicated to peace and service.
"You have been taught that there is something wrong with you, but there isn't. You have been told that you are imperfect, but you're not." Cheri Huber brings a loving, compassionate message we all need to hear: there is nothing wrong with us, there has never been anything wrong with us, and there could never be anything wrong with us. When we truly understand this teaching, we are free to stop dragging around the tired, old belief that we are flawed. "You don't need to take my word for it," she says. "Prove it to yourself."
